They are your companions, your friends, your BABIES! Animals have an Endocannabinoid System (ECS) just like us and they receive many of the same benefits from Hemp Oil. The ECS controls the same body functions in animals – immunity, digestion, nervous system response and brain activity.
It is important to note the difference between THC and CBD when it comes to treating animals. THC, one of the most commonly known cannabinoids, is responsible for the psychoactive response of getting high. Our cats and dogs do not respond well to THC, but can be exposed maybe by eating a THC edible or inhaling secondhand smoke. One reason for the more intense high is that dogs actually have more cannabinoid receptors in their brains than we do. If a pet experiences too high a THC exposure, the effects can be toxic and very uncomfortable.
CBD, the non-psychoactive cannabis compound, is where we can find relief for our furry friends. There are still limited studies on how CBD interacts with animal bodies, but preliminary trials show that CBD may help reduce arthritic pain and reduce seizures in dogs. Since animals do have a similar ECS to us, we can cautiously assume that hemp CBD may help them. Check out some of the most common ways CBD can be used for animals:
Digestive Support
Studies have shown that it can help regulate the stimulation of biochemical digestive substances and help with digestion, gastric secretions and bowel movements by stimulating specific receptors from their ECS.
Stress and Anxiety
There are many reasons our fur babies can suffer from anxiety or stress. Some experience separation anxiety, past trauma or strong reactions to events like thunderstorms or Fourth of July fireworks. Hemp/CBD oil can bring a calming balance to an anxious or aggressive pet. Taken regularly, pets (and their owners!) may find relief from some of life’s more stressful events.
Pain Relief
No one wants to see their fur baby hurting. As our pets age, they can have issues with Osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia, joint pain and more. Hemp CBD oil helps reduce inflammation, which can be an underlying cause of many types of pain. Many pet owners, including veterinarians, are seeing their pets find relief with Hemp CBD Oil.
Why Full Spectrum?
The Entourage Effect is known as the way that the whole cannabis plant works best together, rather than one isolated molecule (like CBD by itself). When all cannabinoids interact together with terpenes, flavonoids and other compounds – as they do with full or broad spectrum products – the most effective medicine may be produced. With full spectrum, dosages can usually be lower and less frequent.

We always recommend consulting with your Veterinarian when starting your pet on Hemp/CBD Oil. It is also recommended starting with a low dose, paying close attention and increasing as needed. (see our Pet Guide for dosage recommendations).
